Rideau Canal & House Centipede

I took the long way to the bus stop again this afternoon.

Ice and snow are slowly melting here in Ottawa.

Took a photo of a government building and turned it upside down.

Then while I was working in my room this evening, a House Centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata) was scurrying across the carpet.  I scooped it into a glass jar and took some photos of it from the top of the jar.  It is quite a scary- but cool-looking creature, and I cannot help but hope that it is not capable of leaping out of the jar (which it didn't).  Here are some close-up photos.
