Busy Bee and Cool Cat

I headed towards London Farm again this afternoon. But before I did, I went to the sharing farm across the street and saw nothing. London Farm, on the other hand, was lively with pollinating European Honey Bees. I saw one bumblebee here yesterday, but didn't get a chance to photograph it, and didn't see it today.

The most popular plant today was the Hellebore (I believe it is Helleborus foetidus with the purple edge on each petal). According to Wikipedia, it has up to ten nectaries, which is probably a efficient plant for a honey bee to spend a long time in one of them.

At the Bee Yard, it was a hectic scene as bees were all over place - entering and leaving the boxes. Some were resting on the top of the boxes, and others were resting on the nearby berry shrubs. But they don't waste a lot of time resting and went back to work pretty soon. Below are some photos of them resting, the only chance I can photograph them being still for a several seconds.

Cute looking bee.

The sun was out then.

Then I biked towards Finn Slough, and came across this tree with many snails on it.

A Bald Eagle perching right on top of the trail, but its position was perfect for not getting a good photo. An acquaintance of mine told me he saw this eagle dropping a duck into the nest nearby before flying to this tree. Sounds like a pair is formed and will be nesting here.

Cloud-watching.

Here is Number Four again, on the side of the road and watching life go by. He is one cool cat.
